Lock 17, rafted to Next Endeavor

Lift bridge we waited for

Signage along the way

Our early start this morning was based on bogus information that a bridge could be opened on request. We didn’t get the bridge raised until ! Once the bridge was raised and we passed under it we pushed ahead and until reaching lock 17. All of the locks we used today were larger than the flight of eight locks so Stan and our boat passed together.

with the lines in lock

While we were waiting for one of the locks to open Stephen, Stan’s Grandson came on our boat and was a big help inside the locks. An extra set of hands is always welcome!

Considering the severe drought in this region and low water levels we experienced a severe thunderstorm while under way. There wasn’t that much wind but a heavy down pour lasted over an hour.
In the lock

When we arrived at this location, we were lucky to have enough space to dock Stan’s boat before I rafted off him. This is a popular destination as its 40 miles from the flight of eight locks.
