After Lock 8 - Rideau Canal wall
Ottawa, Canada

Waiting at the blue line

Entering one of the locks

Most of our day was spent doing the flight of eight locks in Ottawa, Canada. Once we arrived at the blue line, which is a dock with the face painted blue, we waited our turn to enter the first lock. We were grouped with two other boats then started our trip up the flight. Stan was next in line but didn’t start up for another 30 minutes the time it took us to clear locks #1 and #2 before entering #3. Stan’s boat being 48’ long and 18’ wide was paired with a small boat since he filled most of the lock. It took 1-½ hours to reach the top where we found a location ¼ mile from the gate on the canal wall to tie up and spend the night. There is a cost associated with use of the locks as well as spending the night on a canal wall.

Looking down at Next Endeavour
We were walking distance to all the locations everyone would want to see so a little shopping was done. At we walked to the Parliament Building and watched a light show on the building which took 45 minutes. This is a well attended event and well done!

Tomorrow we plan to get an early start to time a bridge opening needed for us to pass under.
