Headed to Waterford |
The day started with Barb and I doing our regular routine that we do when we were about to travel. Remove the morning dew from the windows, rails and other surfaces that we come in contact with. If the engine fluids weren’t checked yesterday we would do so in the morning. Barb removes all of the covers from the electronics and sets the switches for the batteries before turning on the blowers to vent the engine room and start the engines. I wait a few additional minutes to warm up the engines and its time to free the boat from the dock and get underway.

Kayakers |
Due to the adjustments and repairs made yesterday a little extra time was spent on the mechanical systems, checking for potential problems which there were none!
Rickshaw (Belinda & Jim) had their first passage through a large lock (Troy Federal) on this leg of their journey. Considering the wind and other conditions they did a great job.

NYS Thruway Bridge |
As we approached the face wall in Waterford there was no room on the wall, it was full! Rickshaw elected to raft off of Carried Away and I tried to raft off of Quest. The plan didn’t work as I and got caught in a cross wind and with current coming from a creek the combination of wind and water pushed me into Quest. The noise was great but the damage to our boats almost zero!

Greene Island Bridge |
Not wanting to risk further damage to any boat we found an open spot on the wall close to a block away!
Happy hour was on Quest and dinner served on Rickshaw. Every one contributed food and drink and another memorable event was had by all.

Rickshaw in the lock |
Tomorrow all four boats will stay in port before heading off in different directions. When we do split apart Quest and Carried Away will enter the Champlain Canal and head north. “Rickshaw” is considering the Erie Canal and Barb and I will definitely turn west into the Erie Canal!
