Leaving Palm Cove Marina

Mayport Shipyard

Jacksonville in the distance

Jacksonville

We departed the  Palm Cove Marina and headed north to intersect the St. Johns River. The trip through Jacksonville was very interesting and some what of a challenge. We were passing through the hart of Jacksonville when a train passed over a bridge keeping us from proceeding any further due to height restrictions. Normally the bridge is kept open for boat traffic. With our luck holding ---- a free city dock was available in front of a Hooters restaurant close to the railway bridge! After a lunch of BBQ wings, we proceeded south and spent the night at the Ortega Yacht Club. For a change the weather was less than perfect and the boat moved around most of the night due to wind and a good chop!

Leaving after lunch in Jacksonville

The six of us walked to a Longhorn Steak House and had a late dinner. Tomorrow we will depart at 9am when the tide is high. We arrived here at low tide and there was so little water under the boats when coming into port that we almost didn’t make it to the harbor.

Tomorrow we will cruise south and possibly anchor out!
