Morning at anchorage

Leaving our anchorage

Railroad bridge being opened for us

The flat water continues to hold making the cruise very pleasant. We had a full day moving 50 miles closer to Jacksonville. The tidal current isn’t that strong but never the less it pushed us toward Jacksonville a little faster with less fuel consumed. The St. Johns River is truly a beautiful river to encounter. I was surprised at how few boats we passed in both directions. It’s a long expensive trip due to fuel cost but well worth it. The St. Johns River is one more waterway on our bucket list to scratch off, once north of Jacksonville.

See them often on the river

Left: Pulp & Paper Mill
Right: Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant

Tomorrow we have a short cruise day needed to position ourselves in Jacksonville to take advantage of the strong tide and currents in that area. If not timed right I will consume twice the fuel for this part of the river.
