Leaving Green Cove Springs

Jacksonville Naval Air Station
The trip here was with out incident. The last 2/3 of the trip we were pushed by the current to our holding location for tomorrow’s trip back into the Intracoastal Waterway. The air quality wasn’t the greatest with all of the smoke lingering from the forest and brush fires.

Jacksonville in the distance

With our boats safe in the harbor, one heck of a thunder storm swept across the city of Jacksonville. With 55 mph winds, lightening and a driving rain the six of us watched Mother Nature do some of her best work! This is the first bad weather we have experienced in months!

Downtown Jacksonville

What a fantastic marina were staying at! We are the only three boats - Moor $tuff, Quest and Lucky One -  here. The marina is located close to the ball park and football stadium. The only thing separating us from the two stadiums is city parks! I think it’s the best kept secret in northern Florida. The dockage at the marina is free for 72 hours then you must move on. When the teams are playing the dockage is not free. Electricity, water and pump out are available for less than 9 dollars for a 24 hour period. Each slip has a power and water pedestal that is activated remotely with the swipe of a credit card.

We also have the option to call the water taxi and for 5 dollars they will come to the marina and transport you to the center of the Jacksonville waterfront! Jacksonville sure has put out the welcome mat for boaters.
