Metropolitan Park Marina |
Jacksonville from the marina |
Before we departed the empty marina (Metropolitan Park) I walked around and snapped a few pictures. It sure would be nice to have accommodations like this everywhere we stay!
Leaving the marina |
Good-Bye Jacksonville |
Following the tide charts we departed Jacksonville at 9:15 and headed for the Intracoastal Waterway . For a given RPM our speed varied from 7.2 mph up to 11.3 mph. Without any tide effect we would have cruised around 9 mph.
Homes along St. John River |
St. Johns River joing the ICW |
The waterway has becomes very shallow if out of the marked channel. Shoaling is a constant problem and talking your eyes off the water for a few seconds can ruin your whole day! The stress level is nothing-considering the joy of cruising!
Our plan to get here came together and we’re expecting good food and enjoyable sight seeing tomorrow. Thursday we will leave Florida and enter Georgia !
Back on the ICW |
On the ICW almost to Fernandina Beach |
