Fernandina Harbor Marina

Metropolitan Park Marina

Jacksonville from the marina
Before we departed the empty marina (Metropolitan Park) I walked around and snapped a few pictures. It sure would be nice to have accommodations like this everywhere we stay!

Leaving the marina

Good-Bye Jacksonville

Following the tide charts we departed Jacksonville at 9:15 and headed for the Intracoastal Waterway. For a given RPM our speed varied from 7.2 mph up to 11.3 mph. Without any tide effect we would have cruised around 9 mph.

Homes along St. John River

St. Johns River joing the ICW

The waterway has becomes very shallow if out of the marked channel. Shoaling is a constant problem and talking your eyes off the water for a few seconds can ruin your whole day! The stress level is nothing-considering the joy of cruising!

Our plan to get here came together and we’re expecting good food and enjoyable sight seeing tomorrow. Thursday we will leave Florida and enter Georgia!

Back on the ICW

On the ICW almost to Fernandina Beach
