Bay Springs Marina

Entering the Tenn-Tom Waterway

Start of Divide Cut

What a great day – no ice this morning just a little mist rising from the water early on - then nothing but sunshine!

Barge passing!

Chris and Bruce decided to join us on this leg of our journey so off we went and entered the Tenn-Tom Waterway! After 25 miles of cruising on a hand dug channel called the divide cut, we arrived at Bay Springs Marina. At one point in the channel a tow that we were following passed another tow going the opposite direction that stopped and hugged the shore for every one could get by. It’s very narrow in the cut! It’s also a little tricky getting into Bay Spring Marina off the main channel, but once here every thing was fine.

We fueled up the boat with another 165 gallons of gas at a much better price than experienced in Alabama. The staff is fun to work with and Jamie that works on the gas dock is also a beautician and willing to cut our hair tomorrow morning at 7 am before she starts work here! Bruce and I are getting hair cuts, and Barb is scheduled for a trim!

Barb indicated that I either get a hair cut or sit on a street corner with a tin cup and finance this adventure! Once the hair cuts are completed we will enter a lock about a mile from here and continue moving south toward the Gulf. With luck tomorrow we will pass through three major locks and cruise about 17 miles which should take up the whole day!
