Day 140 – Sunday, October 31, 2010

87° 19.963’ W
34° 48.741’ N
Joe Wheeler State Park (day 10)
Rogersville, Alabama

The Flints have departed with a group of boats that will try to get locked through as a group. It seems strange seeing them heading out but, looping is truly two boats passing in the night!

Barb has been fighting a bug as many people are. Hopefully she will feel better in a few days. A few meds and sleep seem to work best.

With five boats remaining we had a little dock party about sunset. As soon as the sun went down it started to get cold, every one headed for their warm boats. It was an early night!

There’s a weather front coming this way Tuesday and Wednesday and we will probably wait here until it passes over. After the weather improves we will cruise to Ditto Marina close to the George Marshall Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama and spend a few days. From there we will move up the river to Chattanooga.

We are now in the process of selecting a location to leave the boat for a month while returning home for the Christmas Holidays. At present we are looking at marinas in the Florida Panhandle down to Clearwater, Florida. Three big factors will play a part in our selection: cost, security and proximity to a major airport. Hopefully we will have an answer to this question soon.
