Barb and I hiked up to Rainbow Falls (mile and a half round trip) and returned to the boat by 11:30 am. The weather was good so we got under way and left Black River Harbor by noon (pic at bottom center). We arrived a few hours later and tied to the wall in the marina at Saxon Harbor. There’s not much to do here so we did some general house work and prepped for tomorrows cruise.
For dinner the closet place to eat (the only place to eat) was a tavern about a half mile up the road or should I say hill! We started walking on the side of the road in the woods when I spotted a pickup truck on the side of the road. I asked the driver if this was the way we should be walking and he said jump in and drove us to the place. The people that own the tavern, store, restaurant and camp ground came from Illinois 35 years ago. After a few beers a frozen pizza and ice cream the owner drove us back to our boat. We had a great visit and a large dose of Wisconsin hospitality.
The weather looks promising for tomorrow so we will move on to Bayfield, Wisconsin.
