Day 13 – Saturday, June 5, 2010

At 6am the harbor was fogged in. Usually with fog, come calm seas with little to no wind. By 8am I could see past the sea wall and make out the coast line a mile off. John and I agreed that if the visibility improved to three miles or better without rain we would get underway. At 10:45 we left the harbor for a 4 hour cruise to Petoskey, Michigan. It turned out to be a great day to cross the bay - the sea was flat which made for smooth cruising. The boat preformed well with no surprises for her shake down cruise!
Four hours after departing we arrived in Petoskey to an empty harbor surrounded by a beautiful city filled with numerous shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors and pubs! The harbor Master in Northport recommended that we dine at Mitchell Street Pub. His recommendation was appreciated as it was a charming place full of life and good cheer!
We are back in the boat now, with rain coming down making for a good nights sleep when its time. The weather is not expected to improve so we will spend two nights here. The ladies will go shopping tomorrow and the men will continue to work on the boats. Monday is looking like a good day to cruise to Mackinaw City, a very long full day of cruising.
That’s it for now ------
