Day 55 - Monday, August 3, 2009
The holiday is over and the boaters have returned home. The day was quiet until two locals that were trying to move a non-operating boat with another boat that crashed into our boat that was moored into its slip. Other than a few gouges and scratches on her noise that can be repaired, we’ll move on tomorrow. The other boat lost its windshield and possible more. Fact is I wasn’t very worried about the other boat since no one was injured.
Tomorrow we get to experience the biggest lift lock (65 ft.) in Canada and some say the world! A lift lock is comprised of two tubs that move up and down. The lower tub opens its door and a few boats drive into it. The door is closed with boats floating inside before the upper tub that has boats floating is over filled with water making it heavier, which lowers it - raising the first tub.
