Day 53 - Sat. August 1, 2009
Today the three boats cruised from Hastings, passing through Rice Lake, the Otonabee River (picture on left) then into Peterborough – logging 39 more miles. We had only one lock today which was just before entering Peterborough. The lock master invited Barb and Kathi to open the hand operated turn style which opens one side of the gate. From there we tied up at the marina and walked to a boat supply store. I’m still no closer to getting parts for the generator, but have a fist full of phone numbers to call Monday!
The first Monday in August is a Civic Holiday for some of the provinces and territories of Canada – so thus we are here on a holiday weekend.
Del Crary Park, adjacent to the marina, is the setting for Summer Festival of Lights, concerts every Wednesday and Saturday at 8 pm. We took our lawn chairs from the boat and saw one great concert – the Canadian Tenors – Barb bought a CD and got it signed.
It is time to service both engines again which we do every 100 hours. Another 100 hours might get us to winter storage "maybe"!
