Lock 10 repair work from floods in fall of 2011 |
After lock 10 |
Still water |
Today was a beautiful day, warm and sunny! We did a long slow cruise covering 36 miles with little to no boat traffic. We passed through 5 locks that were severely damaged in last years flood. Barb and I were surprised at the amount of damage there was. The amazing thing is that they were able to get most of the canal working in less than two months. Major repairs are still in progress and will take months to complete.
The free floating dock has electricity and water as well as a beautiful park. We walked into town and purchased a few engine filters before finding a great restaurant named Gino’s. Excellent food at a great price!

We are now sitting ¼ of a mile from lock number 14 where tomorrow we will continue up the Erie Canal at a slow pace.
