Here comes our train! |
The night was stormy with rain, wind and waves! The morning brought haze with wet slick docks with great predictions for another enjoyable day! The six of us received a ride from Steve our dock master to the Croton train station before arriving in NY City an hour later. We purchased subway passes before heading to the 9/11 WTC Memorial. While in the area we walked to the Sea Port Historic District close to the Brooklyn Bridge and purchased half price theatre tickets to see the play Best Man.

With WTC tickets in hand we walked to the other side of Manhattan stopping for a quick lunch before beginning the security process to get into the memorial. The area has been transformed into a vibrant city skyline with modern glass faced skyscrapers replacing what was destroyed in the 9/11 attack. New construction surrounds the foot print of the missing twin towers replaced with two sunken pools have been built where the towers were located. The setting is a fitting memorial to all that were lost in the attack!

The six of us took another short walk to the subway before arriving in Times Square . We walked around and killed time for four or five hours waiting for curtain time to see Best Man! Our seat locations were good and the play even better. The cast was filled with stars notably, James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, Dakin Matthews, John Larroquette and Candice Bergen to name a few!
We arrived back at the Croton train station with a 5 minute window before the local cab company quick running for the night. It was a long and rewarding day but on our return we were glad to kick off our shoes and just sit for a while!
