Morning fog on water

Leaving after fog

No doubt in my mind that fall is here! The temperature was 42 outside and mid 50s inside when we woke up this morning. We started up the generator and turned on the heat to take the chill off.

Cliffs

The fog was hanging over the water giving a surreal feeling to our surroundings.Within 30 minutes the fog was gone and so were we! The cruise today was wonderful with the spectacular Tennessee scenery slowly passing by. The rocky cliffs flanking the river are amazing!

Flood damage

Floating docks in Clarksville, TN

We have tied up to a free city dock with 50 amps of electric available. This floating dock is connected to shore by three large tubes that are hinged to the dock. This dock rose 35 feet during the Cumberland River flood that damaged Nashville, this year in May! Due to the flood, many of the businesses close to the river are still closed or in the process of rebuilding.

Barb and I walked the down town portion of the city that has a lot of Civil War history through out. Clarksville has the distinction of being destroyed twice then being rebuilt. In 1878 fire destroyed 15 acres of the city and again in 1999 a tornado with 200 mph winds destroyed most of the down town and historic district. Fort Campbell also has a major presence in this area.
