Bayfield, Wisconsin (day 2)
Today we played the role of a couple of tourists. We walked most of the hilly streets in town. I located a marine parts store and purchased a replacement pump and switch for the boat. One piece of canvas on the boat had some stitching come loose so Barb found a sail shop and had it repaired. We also located an IGA store and restocked the boat with food and a beer for when we get under way again.
There continues to be sail boats every where but don’t know where the race is taking place. My take on sail boat racing is, unless you’re participating in the race there’s not much to see. We did hear them party until the wee hours last night so there is a good side to racing sail boats!
Barb and I found a great place for a burger on the main street of town. I’m not sure if it should be classified as a bar with tables or a restaurant with a cooler! The place was recommended by boaters and it turned out to be very good.
Tomorrow we may move into the islands and drop the hook. The weather is somewhat marginal with light rain and a little wind predicted. Tomorrow after we roll out of the sack we will make a decision to stay here at the dock or select an island. Each island has its own characteristics and possible locations to ride out of the weather.
