Horses on Cunberland Island

Last night we were awakened when a major storm struck at 3:15 am! The front came roaring through with winds reaching 65 mph, backed by with heavy rain and lots of lighting. A couple of boats at the marina were damaged but we rode it out without a scratch.

We had a short day only 32 miles to reach Jekyll Island. The smoke continues to build and had reduced our visibility to a few miles. Most of the time it’s difficult to see the channel markers and impossible to see anything on shore! I think this part of the trip will be written off as ----- get through this smoke as soon as you can!

Smoke!

We all crossed the St. Andrews Sound where the seas became some what unruly! Once across, the water became flatter until safely tied up at the marina.

The three boats refueled and pumped out at Jekyll Harbor Marina in preparation for our run to Isle of Hope. It appears that if we make good progress tomorrow we will be at Isle of Hope near Savannah, Georgia on Saturday!
