Arriving at Carrabelle

The weather today was dark, overcast and depressing as well as cold! Three boats left from Port St. Joe around 7:15am and proceeded to Carrabelle. We timed our trip perfectly as there was little wind with a light chop. The boat was cold, damp and just plain uncomfortable. I never imagined that I would be driving a boat in Florida waters wearing gloves and two coats with a blanket wrapped around my legs to keep from freezing! The water in the Gulf has dropped to 46 degrees which is very unseasonable. I am told that once we get 100 miles south of here the weather will get warmer.

Because of the poor weather conditions an extended stay in Carrabelle is anticipated. We will be waiting here for good weather before making our crossing.

Once in port the three boats refueled pumped out and made ready to cross at our first opportunity. Ricki prepared another great dinner that was served on Elizabeth and Nelsons boat which has ample room to sit all of us. As always, everyone had a delightful evening before returning to their boats.

On return to our boat we logged on to our e-mail to the sad news that Marcia Smith, the sister of my oldest friend Russ Olsson, had passed away last night! I have known her since I was 8 years old and feel stunned with receiving this news.
