Copper Harbor, Michigan
Today at 9 am we were clearing the break wall (pic on left) and heading into the lake. It was a questionable departure starting with waves at 2 feet with white caps while anticipating the seas to improve --- off we went! The seas got worse for the first two hours then improved to reasonable, but never flat! Seven hours later we arrived in Copper Harbor, Michigan. Again we are the only two transient’s boats in the marina! Actually were the only boats here - period! I’m beginning to think that if we went a little further north we would fall off the earth! (Picture below left is lighthouse at Copper Harbor)
The harbor looks like a post card with all new docks and shower facilities. All in all it’s very peace full and beautiful in Copper Harbor. We will spend two nights here then scoot down the west side of the Keweenaw Peninsula and enter the river to Houghton, Michigan where we will spend the 4th of July.
Our boating companions must return home for a family emergency. The Flints are going to return to Marquette, Michigan rent a car then drive home to Virginia. Barb will then fly to Florida to be with her 96 year old Mother who has just had her broken hip successfully repaired.
Barb and I will continue on with our original plans and head for Duluth, Minnesota. On our return trip to the Soo locks we will try to reconnect with the Flint’s and head south together. Considering the time line we have discussed with the Flint’s its very feasible.
